It has come to our notice that some Ghanaian artistes in the hiplife music industry have cultivated a blustering attitude towards their colleague and even those supposed to be their bosses. Kontihene’s story is just one among a myriad of reports we have received concerning hiplife artistes and violent behaviour.
Although his story was no surprise to those of us aware of his background, it pointed out an utterly shameful side to the promising industry of hiplife. It came as an echo of the egocentrism some artistes are likely to plunge the scene into if not checked and dealt with appropriately.
All our hiplife artistes should know the way to endear themselves or their artistry to Ghanaians is not to go violent but to prove their worthy through the songs they play.
The image and future of this genre of music can only be enhanced and secured when there is unity and respect among stakeholders. When artistes do the right things to keep them as positive role models of society.
