In the early 1990s, a group of young and ambitious guys defied the ‘abject poverty and deprivation’ of their environment, Nima, to form a musical clan.

In spite of their ambition to defy all odds and make it on the local scene, many did not give them any chance of making it. However, with perseverance and strong will to reach the top, the group, Vision In Progress, (VIP) made up of Lazzy, Promzy and Prodigal have made it not only here in Ghana, but also the entire African continent.

The greatness and excellent stagecraft of the musical trio was re-enacted recently in far away South Africa, when they performed at the prestigious KORA All Africa Music Awards. They represented Ghana, having won the Artiste of the Year.

Information reaching the entertainment desk of P&P indicates that so excellent was the group’s performance that several top records companies on the continent and beyond have expressed interest in dealing with them, via their hardworking producers, Goodies Music Production. Indeed VIP managed to raise high the flag of Ghana, and set the KORA Awards ablaze.

The VIP story rally began in 1996 when they released their maiden album titled ‘Bibi Ba’ with fascinating tracks like ‘Rana Sala’, ‘Mama Kwan’ among several others. This was followed by ‘Yede Aba’, with hit songs including ‘Zo Mu Wasa’, ‘Oba Sweetie’ and ‘Money Lover’.

The real success story of the Pride of Nima began when they signed onto the Goodies Record label and released their album with the popular song ‘Daben Na Odo Beba’. During the 2002 edition of the Ghana Music Awards, VIP was nominated for Hiplife Rap Music of the Year.

Early this year, VIP became the cynosure of the eyes and envy of all when they won five awards of the Ghana Music Awards with the hit album ‘Ahomka Womu’.
