Talal Fatal

This month’s featured artiste has been in the Ghanaian music industry for long and has kept a low profile about himself. We are talking about Talal Fatal, the veteran singer, songwriter, arranger, producer and CEO of Metro TV. For a man like Talal, music and entertainment has been a part of him.

He has been around the Ghanaian music industry for twelve years and has many accolades; Talal is still going strong and recently relaunched his musical career with his Eboni album dubbed ‘Money & Fame’.

The 42-year old Talal started playing major roles in teen pop-chain and music bands before attempting to try afro pop music in Ghana. Whiles growing up he joined music bands and embraced teen-pop chains, this was somewhere in the mid 70s.Talal’s passion and love for music went on the high side after he met ex – radio presenter, Tommy Annan Forson who boosted up his confidence.

Refusing to be forgotten again after his second album wasn’t all that successful, Talal resurfaced with a third album titled ‘Forgive and Forget’. which was a hit throughout West Africa, he was later signed on by Sunny Ade of Sigma Disc. Of Nigeria.

After coming out with his hit song ‘Forgive & Forget’, Talal went on to call his own shots with Pat Thomas and other Ghanaian highlife legends.

Between 1985 and 1992 Talal performed in Ghana and abroad with a host of international artistes like Osibisa, Alpha Blondy, Jimmy Cliff and Jermaine Jackson, and was one of Ghana’s representatives at P-MAN Awards Night in Lagos in 1992.

After a couple of albums, Talal has successfully positioned himself to run his own show and has formed the Eboni Band with Eric Antonio and Ashitey De Love as permanent members.

His remarkable accomplishments include winning the ECRAG Discovery of the Year award (1986) owing to his three hot albums, ‘Its Not Over’, ‘Where Are You’ and ‘Forgive and Forget’.

Ghana Music.com : what do you think of the hiplife industry?

Talal :I  think hiplife is a progressive  movement and I respect the clean raps of some hiplife rappers, example, Batman’s lyrics on my ‘Forgive and Forget’ Twi version by Kwaisey Pee was good and clean.

Talal’s road to success has been a long one, since becoming a musician Talal has really built an impressive catalog for himself.
