I had mixed feelings reading the lead story of last week’s edition of Graphic Showbiz (20th May) captioned “Hiplife Musicians Are Noise Makers”, and I was utterly aghast that, the comment emanated from no other person than A-Pluz.

Who is A Pluz, and when did he come into the realm of hiplife? What moral right has he got to call others noise makers, when he’s no better. This guy has only one album and one hit song to his credit and he thinks he’s done enough to gloat.

I’m very disappointed that A Pluz had front page coverage in a highly wide spread paper like Showbiz to waffle about nothing. I know the coverage was a ploy to promote him and his current album.

His contention astounds me the more, that his fellow hiplife artistes aren’t doing enough to sell their works beyond the boundaries of Ghana. Hear him, “I’m using a lot of instruments like the guitar, saxophone, and live drums to appeal to music lovers”.

Who told him that his fellow hiplifers are not using ‘dondo’ and ‘konkas’ to make their songs? We are talking about hiplife artistes, who are rocking shows outside Ghana and selling records world-wide and he’s here blabbering about using what.

I vividly remember A Pluz when he used to make wacky songs for Hush Hush Studios and now he is gusty enough to raise trivial issues.

Who branded him as controversial? Is it his personality or his songs that makes him controversial? Not close. This guy really lacks creativity and foresight.

Just because he did a hit songs on an album he dubbed ‘Freedom Of Speech 1’, he’s out with the same style he calls ‘Freedom Of Speech 2’, and instead of changing the style, he wants to bore us to death with another ‘Freedom Of Speech 3’ in 2005.

I’m sure he would love to release ‘Freedom Of Speech 4’ in 2008. Asked how come by the name A Pluz, he claimed he scores A’s in hiplife. That’s wrong.

He actually stole the name from an American hiphop artiste originally called A Pluz. No hard feelings for A Pluz (the Ghanaian), but I’ll admonish him that, next time he blurts about anything, he should mind his choice of words.
