Why was D Black & Kwaku T on stage?

The MTN Ghana Music Awards 2010 ended up with happy and sad moments on 10th April. Even though it’s over, a lot is still been said about it but one area I want to tackle is the “Best Video of the Year” won by George ‘GYO’ Gyimah of Phamous People now known as Phamous PHILMS.

I mean the whole idea for GYO to have 3 videos nominated in that category was a big plus to his CV. One thing about GYO’s videos is that, there is always an improvement when he’s done editing a new music video.

I think looking at all the videos from a technical point of view and the input exerted into them, 4x4’s ‘Fresh Ones’ and Sarkodie’s ‘Borga’ lead the pack.

Editing style was different on ‘Borga’, clarity of picture quality was on point. The way the scenes split was done in an understandable concept not ever seen in Ghana before.

Let me fast forward and ask why was the whole Peer Pressure squad was on stage when GYO was called to pick his award for ‘Breathe’.

For God’s sake, the award was for GYO!!! D Black, Kwaku T and the whole group taking over the podium making long speeches and ‘noise’ was a no go area!!!

Men, the boys took over GYO’s shine. And finally guess what happened. They had to receive ‘away’ and ‘boos’ from the audience when it time for GYO to make his acceptance speech.

The Phamous boys (Ogee, GYO and Links) are known not be showing their faces in public and to have them making an appearance at GMA was good but I guess Peer Pressure group had another agenda for them. I don’t know if it was because they didn’t win any award.

D Black was recently quoted in Ghanacelebrities that he was very optimistic about winning the ‘Hiplife/HipHop Song of the Year’ and I guess since he didn’t win he diverted all his happiness on their music video – ‘Breathe’ directed by GYO.

What I really expected from D Black and Kwaku T to do was to just join GYO on stage and support him rather than clamping him with their whole ‘Peer Pressure’ and staying there for long.
