    Disco lights at Conference Center

It looks like event organizers do not fear ‘rains’ messing their programmes anymore. These days all the entertainment shows in Accra end with one thing in common; LIGHTS OFF. If a show doesn’t end unceremoniously because of incessant power cuts, it will end amidst power on and off for several times.

The outdooring of Zigi at the Aphrodisiac Night Club in Accra, the launch of hip life rap trio V.I.P. (Vision In Progress) new album at the Boomerang Night Club and pre-Val’s Day Bash with Obrafour & Tema’s Finest at Groove Control Night Club in Tema were all disturbed by unexpected light offs.

The national premiere centres, National Theatre and Accra International Conference Centre were on Saturday and Sunday turned into a night clubs, where the lights went off and on several times like the lighting we have in night clubs locally referred to as ‘disco’ lights.

The disco light at the Accra International Conference on the other hand started midway through Rex Omar’s performance at Akosua Adjepong @ 20 concert. After doing a song, he was about to invite Akosua on stage and the lights went off. It took sometime for the lights to come back on, only to go back again.

The audience couldn’t wait any longer than to vacate the auditorium without being told the programme has ended. The power interruptions marred the performance of NAKOREX’s hit song ‘Kpanlogo’.

I know Akosua Adjepong had a successful 20 year concert but inwardly she will show strong aversion towards the Electricity Company of Ghana for preventing her in partnering Rex Omar to perform ‘Kpanlogo’.
