    Lighter has a taste for 'Dark Skinned Girls'

    Fans can't stop hitting Lighter up on his Facebook page since Ghana Music.com premiered his 'Dark Skinned Girls' to the internet some few weeks ago. The question on everyone's mind is that when is the lookalike Ghanaian Soulja boy coming out? Watch Dark Skinned Girls by Lighter

    After Lighter settled in the United States of American in 1996 and taking up music serious, Lighter now wants to grow in 2010. Lighter will soon be trumpeting his status with a new album.

    Certainly 2010 will be a banner year for the NYC emcee with his lead single, 'Dark Skinned Girls'.

    It was hell fishing out Lighter from the pond musicians based in New York City but yours truly and number one Ghanaian website, Ghana Music.com was able to locate him for our 1 on 1 section this week.

    Ghana Music.com: I heard you are based in NYC?
    Lighter: Yes, I reside in the Bronx, NY.

    Ghana Music.com: What's the exciting thing about your new record coming out – ‘Dark Skinned Girls’?
    Lighter: Well let's just say ‘Dark Skinned Girls’ gets to have their own anthem in the club now.

    Ghana Music.com: What is it like to go on Ghana Music.com and have fans there that want to meet you?
    Lighter: It feels great and it motivates me to work harder.

    Ghana Music.com: The use of the internet has changed since you came in the game, how has the rise of MySpace, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube affected your career? Ghana Music.com noticed you are new to Twitter and Facebook?
    Lighter: MySpace is where I gained a lot of fans with over 500,000 views and plays, the internet made me big and boosted my career.

    Ghana Music.com: Did you feel the pressure when you started making the new record – ‘Dark Skinned Girls’?
    Lighter: Not at all, I got the whole idea when I was partying and the DJ kept shouting out the Dark Skinned Girls.

    Ghana Music.com: How do you work?
    Lighter: Alone at home with headphones on with my computer blasting beats.

    Ghana Music.com: Would you rather sit down with a producer and create a record or just get the beat and do your thing?
    Lighter: Both is always fine with me, I usually tell the producer the kind of beat I'm looking for.

    Ghana Music.com: What do you like about the 'Dark Skinned Girls' song?
    Lighter: Everything from the beat to the hook and verse.

    Ghana Music.com: What does it take for a new artiste to get down to the streets of NYC?
    Lighter: Hardwork and consistency.

    Ghana Music.com: Which Ghanaian artistes do you ‘roll’ with it in NYC?
    Lighter: VIP and that's when they come out here.

    Ghana Music.com: What’s your favorite song at the moment from Ghana?
    Lighter: I got a couple like Ruff-N-Smooth - Swagger and VIP- I Think I Like Am.

    Ghana Music.com: How do you feel about the state of hip-hop right now? You know, Nas said hip-hop is dead?
    Lighter: I feel like that's his opinion but hip-hop ain't dead.

    Ghana Music.com: So who is the best rapper out in your opinion? I know you’re gonna say yourself, but you gotta say someone other than yourself in USA and Ghana?
    Lighter: Fabulous and Jadakiss and in Ghana I'll say Sarkodie.

    Ghana Music.com: Where did your nickname lighter come from?
    Lighter: What comes out of a lighter is fire and that's what I spit. So that's how the name came about.

    Ghana Music.com: Alright, let me get to some random questions. A lot of people want to know, are you dating anyone right now?
    Lighter: No, I'm single.

    Ghana Music.com: Do you have any celebrity crushes?

    Ghana Music.com: Well a lot of ladies love you after watching your ‘Dark Skinned Girls’ music video, and they want to know what kind of qualities you look for in a girl aside dark skinned ones?
    Lighter: I like lite skin girls and dark skin girls that has a great personality.

    Ghana Music.com: What’s your favorite part of a woman’s body?
    Lighter: Booty.

    Ghana Music.com: Has anyone told you, you look like Fabulous and rap like him too?
    Lighter: I hear Soulja Boy a lot for my look alike but as for rap, yeah i heard i sound like Fab before.

    Ghana Music.com: What is the worst job you would ever do outside of music?
    Lighter: McDonald’s.

    Ghana Music.com: If you had 24 hours left to live, how would you spend it?
    Lighter: I would spend it with my family.
