As a hiphop/hiplife artiste and song writer, Michael Boateng Asante known in showbiz as 2 Ras has been able to prove his worth as an artiste and entertainer.

2 Ras entered the limelight when Obrafour one of Ghana’s best hiplife rappers featured on his single "Medi be bom" after he heard him record in an Accra based studio.

The song received massive airplay and became an instant hit. It was used as a soundtrack for popular TV show Afia Schwasneger. This song gave him the opportunity to tour the country with Obrafuor.

For Accra based hiphop/hiplife artist 2 Ras, getting to record his first single with one of hiplife’s finest and a pioneer was like a dream come true.

He describes his own music as fun, youthful and poetic
whiles at the same time representing the reality.

"Hiplife/Hiphop music is about reality. Some of the storylines can be meaningful and still be fun. I never choose a song that I can't relate to in some way. My music represents who I am." Though he is a hiphop/hiplife artist, his influences in music comes from a wide variety of genres. Some of his musical influences include Hugh Masekela, Angelique Kudjo, Fela Kuti, Reggie Rockstone, Obrafour, Okyeame Kwame, Jay Z, Kanye West, Bob Marley just to mention a few.

When he was asked why he decided to pursue this carrier, he explained, “I use to rap in high school, the typical high school lifestyle. I didn’t take music seriously until I was in my early 20’s. I started writing songs in my head and did a number of studio rehearsals with some great music producers and it took my interest in music to another level. I started doing music and showbiz fulltime, and I loved the wideopenness it brought to my life.”

He has been able to land a deal with a record label and is currently promoting his new singles, “My First Love” and “Lighters Up” which features Stonebwoy.
