Hipdia man Sony Achiba whose songs gained prominence in Ghana in the early 2000s, is girding up for his next album next year, Flex newspaper has learnt.

He disclosed this in a phone interview from the United Kingdom, to Kwame Dadzie last Sunday on 'Arts and People' on Koforidua-based Vision 90.9FM when he was asked about whether or not he had quit music.

“No, I am still active. I came to the UK to take some courses and to attend to other things but I haven't quit music. God willing next year, I will be releasing another album so my fans should watch out for me,” he said.

He added that he was not going to do anything different from the hiplife and Indian type of music fusion that he is known for because to him it was that unique style which catapulted him to stardom in the early 2000s.

“It was hipdia that earned me my fame. People accepted me because I brought something unique and that is what identifies me as a brand. I just would like to stick to it and I know by God's Grace, it will work out well for me,” he noted.

However, as a dancer, he was happy about the emergence of the Azonto and Akayida dances, which according to him are very wonderfully crafted dances he would perform anytime he finds himself on stage.

Last year he was in Ghana for Empire Entertainment's 'Back in the Day' Concert' and has been playing gigs overseas, latest of which is one in Australia last month and will be performing on 24th December, 2013 in Spain and on 28th December, 2013 in Ireland. Sony Achiba is remembered with songs like 'Meboso', 'Nipa Boniaye,' 'Bone' among others.
