Meda Melody Awoyo Wilson (born 8 march 1990) is a Ghanaian singer and songwriter. Awoyo, formerly known as melody to the public came to prominence in 2010 when she became the winner of the Second series of Citi FMs' Voice Factory.
Being the first and only daughter of her parents, it was not surprising that she was named melody because she was destined to be a great singer.
Her mother was not too fond of the name until she heard her 3 years old daughter singing 'jesus loves me' and shed tears as felt her daughter's voice was angelic!.
Ironically, Awoyo had not released any recorded music after winning the Voice factory in 2010 primarily because her father was not too enthused about her dreams of making music or being a musician considering his rapt belief in putting education and God first.
Although she received a lot of offers from record labels and music management outfits, she turned them down with the intention to please her father.
Not feeling happy with her decision; she felt that her ability to make music was a gift and should be used to affect society and peoples' lives positively and with the help of friends such as Lloyd Gawu, Awoyo was forced to make the most difficult decision she had ever had to make… Start singing again.
Awoyo is currently working on her debut album and is slated to release a number of singles. She is a French major at the University of Ghana, Legon and her hobbies include: singing, reading, cooking, learning to play the piano etc.
