After hosting the Coca Cola Open Happiness Tour last year, Merqury Quaye, the best hype man in Ghana, has landed another deal to host the first edition of Coca Cola hit single contest tour taking place at Kumasi, Tamale, Takoradi and finally Accra from the 3rd of August to 2nd September 2011. Coca Cola brings an explosion of raw youthful creativity plus professional talents in a contest to release Ghana’s own creation of a hit single.

Out of 34 competitors, 8 finalists will enjoy the expertise of four skilled ambassadors namely Okyeame Kwame, Samini and D Crime during their studio sessions and performances at the grand finale which comes off at the National Theatre on September 2.

In 2010, Merqury proved his well established vibe with audiences across Ghana during the Coca Cola Open Happiness tour which brought together over 10,000 senior high students with an explosion of excitement throughout the period, making every moment euphoric and worthwhile. Organizers of the events therefore did not look any further when it came to choosing an MC for this year’s first of the Coke Hit single contest which comes with a prize package of a whopping $10,000 for the ultimate winner.

In a phone interview, he expressed excitement about his involvement in such a historic project saying ‘Coca Cola is one of the biggest brands on this planet which makes it a huge force to reckon with.

Chosen to anchor the Coke Hit Single contest is a reflection of the recognition of my efforts as one of the finest MC’s in Ghana and, generally, a quality entertainer. I’m humbled’. Merqury was also thankful to Rite Multimedia, organizers of the event, headed by Yaw Afari Sakyi for the confidence reposed in him and promised to give off his best as always. After the tour, the smooth taker is set to host his ground breaking birthday gig christened THE GOLD RUSH PARTY at Ghana’s finest nite club, Aphrodisiac, on the 16th of September 2011.

The GOLD RUSH, held first at Pardies Night Club in 2009, brought together close to 1300 people from all parts of the capital to have a good time and celebrate with the former Soundcity TV presenter also known as the best hype man in Ghana. Ruff N Smooth, Braderz, VIP and a whole lot more were there to entertain revelers with rollicking performances. This year’s event promises to be bigger.
