Among the over 30 musicians billed to perform at the Festival this year, Rocky Dawuni will be gracing the Reggae vibes with Alpha Blondy. The 2016 lineup includes musical representation from 25 regions and countries.

This would probably be the second time the 2 Legendary African Reggae Musicians would be sharing the same stage. They first played on the same stage in Switzerland at the “AfroPfingsten” in 2013 with Lee Scratch Perry and others.

Rocky Dawuni on his comments about the upcoming concert says, “Louisiana represents a cultural melting pot for Africa, the African diaspora and America.

As a Ghanaian musician, this is a pilgrimage of reconnection, celebration and to share my ‘Afro Roots’ sound with the people of Lafayette. I am excited to be performing alongside fellow African Reggae musician, Alpha Blondy from Ivory Coast and my Cumbancha Record Label mate, Daby Toure from Mauritania/Senegal. “Festival International de Louisiane” will celebrate its 30th year in downtown Lafayette with headliners Alpha Blondy and The Solar System, A-WA and CharlElie Couture. The free world- music festival is scheduled to run between April 20 to April 24, 2016.

The annual festival is a celebration of Francophone music and culture and is considered one of the top world-music events. It is free and open to the public. Rocky Dawuni is a Grammy nominee with his 6 album “Branches of the Same Tree. He is also nominated for the “Record of the Year”” with the same album in the Ghana Music Awards 2016 (VGMA) scheduled for May 7, 2016.

Alpha Blondy and Rocky Dawuni are pitched as Africa’s biggest Reggae/Afro Roots voices on the international scene, currently.
