Iain McGuinness, 24, entered Media Trust competition and the judges were so impressed with his idea for the hip hop video they sent him £400 to make it a reality.

Iain teamed up with Ghana-born Glasgow rapper Kobi Onyame — who has shared a stage with hip hop superstar Kanye West — for the shoot and now Iain is looking for extras to join the urban music star in front of the camera.

He told the Post: “I went to a music video workshop in London and worked with directors and fifteen others from around the UK to pick up tips on shooting music videos.

“I was the only Scot there and they showed me the ropes which will really help with Kobi’s video.”

The £400 grant is organised by the Community Channel — available on satellite television and Freeview. One scene has already be shot with London rapper Sway at Byblos nightclub in Glasgow’s Merchant City and the rest of the scenes are set to be shot over the weekend of May 2 and 3.

Budding production star Iain said: “It’s quite a simple idea but now I can take it further and use what I learned in London.

“Kobi is well known in Glasgow and has supported Kanye West at the SECC. “Next month he’s opening for De La Soul in Edinburgh.

“In the video we try to make a lot of the Glasgow theme, which is something Kobi likes to rap about.

“There’s a sort of dream sequence where he goes through real events like being on stage at the SECC and then there’s fantasy elements like performing huge shows.”

Iain is looking for volunteers to be extras in the shoot on Saturday May 2 and Sunday May 3 with hip hop fans sought. Some of the roles available include a barber, a jogger and a supermarket worker. Couples aged 18 to 25 and 65 or over are also wanted.

If you are interested, contact Iain on 07949 252250 or email hello@andorproductions.co.uk, including your contact details, a recent photograph and which role you are interested in, before Wednesday April 30.
