Award-winning radio presenter and Chief Executive Officer of Empire Entertainment, Nathaniel Kwabena Anokye Adisi, best known in showbiz as Bola Ray, has declared that he is ever ready to support the showbiz industry in Ghana to meet the challenges ahead of it.

The enterprising radio presenter, who many describe as Ghana’s leading master of ceremony (MC), stressed that one of his objectives is to develop the talents in the youth and also create employment for people, adding “I know there are great talents who want platforms to bring out what they have so I have taken it upon myself to help such people.”

Bola Ray’s unique stage name purportedly comes from the attributes, “Brilliant, Outstanding, Loving, Affable, Religious, and Youthful,” created during his school days.

Based on his outstanding achievements in the showbiz industry in Ghana, Bola has received a number of awards which include Ghana’s Showbiz Personality of the Year award at the City People Awards for Excellence held in Nigeria and Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG) Radio Show Host of the Year 2013.

As part of his social responsibilities, Bola has embarked on a number of charity projects and also made some donations to a number of needy institutions in the country.

With a lot of achievement under his belt, one is tempted to think everything has been smooth sailing for him, but that is not the case.

Late last year the award-winning radio personality established his own radio station, Empire 102.7 FM in Takoradi to contribute towards the growth and development of the creative arts industry in Ghana.

The establishment of the Empire FM, BEATWAVES learnt, has brought some hope and air of freshness to radio listeners in Takoradi and its environs, because it entered the radio industry at a time when complaints were on the increase that local radio stations had become boring compared to other countries.

Tagged as “Ghana’s No 1 On-Air Personality” by event organizers, Bola and his Empire FM are working tirelessly behind closed doors to change the current trend of radio broadcasting in the Western Region through well-designed programmes, good music and a motivated workforce.

The award-winning radio presenter who hopes to promote the growth of entertainment culture in Ghana, with a strong stance on education believes that too many young people see the entertainment field as a way to avoid school. He was, however, quick to point to his own experience as an example of education helping one to get somewhere in life.

For the past years, Bola has successfully organised annual events such Ghana Meets Naija and the Back in the Day concerts. He is also managing a number of Ghana musicians such as Okyeame Kwame, Guru, Double and Dr Slim.
