An artiste whose name is gradually becoming a household name in the Gospel music industry is Joseph Oscar Mettle.

Known mostly for his creative stagecraft and passion, Joe Mettle, as his stage name goes, is gradually carving a niche for himself as a must-hear gospel artiste of our time.

Joe Mettle started singing and playing the drums at the tender age of eight, and by 16, he realised that he had a unique calling upon his life.

His Christian upbringing (by his mother) and the time spent in the company of elderly Christians laid the foundation he stands upon as a Christian minister.

Throughout the years, Joe has received several confirmations about his calling in personal dreams, visions and prophecies from friends and mentors in ministry.

He has had the opportunity to work with several great artistes in the industry such as Cindy Thompson, Minister Danny Nettey, and Reverend Tom Bright Davies.

In addition to working alongside great artistes, Joe served as lead singer for acclaimed music group Soul Winners. He was blessed to minister on the same stage with world renowned artistes such as Don Moen, Israel Houghton, Micah Stampley, Alvin Slaughter, Sonnie Badu, Cece Winans, Uche Agu and Juanita Bynum.

In 2012, Joe Mettle was awarded the Male Vocalist of the Year, Best Gospel Song Writer, and Best Video of the Year at the Ghana Gospel Industry Awards (GGIA). In 2011, he was one of the nominees for African Gospel Music Awards.

In 2007, Joe Mettle Ministries was founded from the desire to use music, which is undoubtedly the most commanding element, to bring people together. The ultimate vision is centered on empowering believers and winning souls for Christ through the power of worship.

As part of the ministry’s vision to empower believers and bring souls to Christ through music, the Community Worship Project (CWP) & The Senior High School Outreach Project (SHSOP) were instituted. The CWP is a quarterly organized worship and praise event that brings various gospel artists and people in community together under one roof to praise, worship and share the word.

The SHSOP is geared towards the younger generation, especially High School aged youth. In a world where peer-pressure and the constant need to “fit in” runs rampant, SHSOP aims at redirecting the hearts of young men and women back to Christ through music.

Artistes who participate in the outreach program spend time talking, counseling and praying with the youth who often come there with heavy hearts and seek a listening ear. Currently, Joe Mettle is a Student at Pentecost University College pursuing a Bsc in Marketing.

He is also a very active member of the Assemblies of God Church, Dansoman, where he can be found leading the Praise and Worship Ministry.
