23 year old Michael Kesse Frimpong representing the Greater Accra region as Mike has won the fourth season of TV3’s hit singing competition, Mentor. Mike who beat three others in the finale last Sunday at the National Theatre, tried the previous season of the competition as well as TV3 Gang Starz but was not selected in both cases.

The finale saw amazing performances from all four finalists as well as other artists like Slim Buster, Tinny, Shasha Marley and Prince Midas, and Tic Tac. The contestants each had the chance to perform twice.  In the first segment, Mike did a song entitled 'Careless whisper' originally done by Davekoz.

Followed was Julie who did a song 'Save the best for last' originally performed by Vanessa William. Then came Sam. He also took the challenge to do 'You are beautiful' originally done by James Blurnt. Angel kept the fire burning as she did 'Almost doesn't count', a song originally done by Brandy. It was an outstanding performaces engrossed by both Judges and fans.

In the second phase, the contestants each had the chance to performe with their favourite music mentors. Mike performed with Wutah, 'Kotosa', Sam with Kwabena Kwabena 'Obi do wo a', Angel with Kweku Gyasi 'Adie akye' and Julie with Lady Prempah 'Onyame ni mi kamafo'.

The final four, Mike, Angel, Sam and Julie have been battling for public affection and approval from the Judges for the past 15 weeks.

Mike has been very strong throughout the competition and Angel not too far behind him. Sam has emerged from the woods to become one of the top contenders while Julie made it to the top 4 out of mere tokenism on the part of the Judges.

The finalists were joined on stage by the evictees from the reality show to do their own song using Zain.

In the end, the jam-packed auditorium went into frenzy when Mike was declared the winner. He won 10,000 cedis and a recording deal. Sam came second and had 6,000 cedis, Angel was third and also had 5,000 cedis whilst Julie took the fourth position and had 4,000 cedis. Each of them had souvenirs from the sponsors.

Mike signed out with a self-composed reggae tune to the admiration of his fans.

Mentor was sponsored by Zain and supported by Coast Milk, Neat food, Mobile water, Tomtom, Anchor Gold Acrylic paints.
