About two weeks ago in Flex newspaper, Managing Editor Samuel Baah asked whether or not events such as MPEG Honours would ever be held again.

In an answer to this question, the Executive Producer of the Most Popular Entertainer of Ghana (MPEG) event, Francis Doku, said on Vision FM's 'Arts and People' that the show will be bouncing back next year.“Oh, MPEG Honours is coming back next year, hopefully,” Francis replied.

The most Popular Entertainer of Ghana (MPEG) is an initiative of FDD Communications Consult that seeks to honour a cross-discipline of entertainers like comedians, musicians, footballers, boxers, actors, presenters who have excelled in their various fields of endeavour.

About two years ago when the maiden edition was held, finalists were chosen from each discipline of the entertainment family, honoured with a trophy, certificate and accompanying prizes, after which a college and public (voters) chose from the finalists, who became the most popular entertainer of the year. Current Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan aka Baby Jet was the overall MPEG for 2010.

Two years down the lane, nothing had been heard about the initially planned annual event until last Sunday on Koforidua-based Vision 90.9FM where he made this revelation. Flex newspaper, urges Francis Doku to come stronger than before and make MPEG come off next year as he has hoped for.
