It is time again for the West Africa version of the international reality TV talent show, Project Fame, and auditioning for contestants in Ghana will come off  at the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) offices on Saturday, May 30 from 8.00am to 7.00pm.

MUSIGA is facilitating the auditioning and the union’s president, Mrs Diana Hopeson said 15 contestants will initially be selected and groomed before they leave for Nigeria to compete with other contestants from Liberia, Sierra Leone and Nigeria.

Auditions have already been held in Liberia and Sierra Leone. Auditions in Nigeria are scheduled for Calabar, Kano, Enugu, Benin, Kaduna, Lagos and Abuja from June 5.

A final 15 will then be chosen from the 60 contestants and they will enter a Performance Academy with a full complement of professional staff and Board of Directors.

The finalists will receive training from experts in voice training, choreography, stage performance and more over a period of 12 weeks.  Each week, the weakest contestant is dropped based on nominations by judges and audience votes until the best is chosen in a grand finale to showcase African talent.

Three Ghanaians-Nii, Dorcas and Kojo- were among the final 15 last year. Nii, who was popularly known in Ghana as Joe when he competed in Mentor 2, was the first runner-up at the grand finale which was won by Iyanya from Nigeria.

On the panel on Saturday to help spot winsome talent for Ghana are Kwasi Kyei Darkwa (KKD), one of Ghana’s best-known  showbiz personalities; Panji Anoff, a music producer and recording engineer and Bibie Brew, one of the best singers this country has produced.

“Project Fame has proved to be a wonderful stepping stone to stardom and I urge all the young peole with talents in music to come over and audition,” Mrs Hopeson said.

Project Fame West Africa is supported by MTN.
