The year is ending and the +233 Jazz Bar and Grill at North Ridge in Accra is finishing hard with a tight fun package for patrons.

Tonight, Thursday, is for guitarist  Akablay and his Abiza band. They have fashioned out their own brand of highlife-jazz  that derives largely from Nzema rhythms. The band just came back from a trip to Holland and say they will shake off the cold from their system with some hot stuff for dancing. Guest on the night is singer  Felix Owusu.

Efya and her own selected guests are billed to appear tomorrow Friday, December 28. It is a One Nation presentation. The Sound Factree harbours some of the most audacious instrumentalists in this country and the band takes its turn with Sandra on vocals on Saturday,December 29.

Sunday, December 30 is Simigwa time with Gyedu Blay Ambolley and his Sekondi band. Singer Pat Thomas will be the band’s guest at the performance. A special ‘ol school’ session will see out 2012 with Kwame  Yeboah and the ObY band in attendance on Monday, December 31. The programme will be  interspersed  spinning by DJ Paa Kwesi .

The +233 joint starts the new year on a bright note on Tuesday, January 1 with an all-star jazz and blues jam.  Participating instruments include pianist Victor Dey, saxophonists Ray Allen and Bernard Ayisa , bassist Nii Quaison-Sackey, harmonica player Kweku Opoku and guitarist Kari Bannerman.

“There will be lots of food and drink on offer to accompany the nights of good music so all should look no further than +233 for the best entertainment between now and the end of the year,” says Nana Nyarko Ackah-Yensu, a member of the +233 management team.
