Charway Management holds 1st workshop on events security and safety

Charway Management, an events company and artiste management has held its maiden workshop with a call for event organisers to put in place safety and security measures at events.

Speaking at the event, the CEO of Charway Management, Charway Ismaila Sumaila noted that even though disasters have been recorded at various events across the world including the 2010 Love Parade in Germany and Water Festival in Cambodia amongst many others, Ghana has been fortunate not to record disasters of such magnitude.

He, however, cautioned that Ghana was similarly at risk of recording disasters claiming a number of lives if pragmatic measures were not taken to educate practitioners on the importance of security and safety measures at events.

“Until the unfortunate incident that transpired at Asawase during the jam to climax the ‘Sallah’ which resulted in the death of nine people in 2016, we thought Ghana was immune from such unfortunate incidents.

“See what happened at Tidal Rave last year, only God knows the level of casualties that would have been recorded if such a situation had occurred at the highly-patronized Accra Sports Stadium, or even Accra International Conference Centre or the National Theatre where entertainment events are held often.

“The signs have always been on the wall that, if measures are not put in place, such incidents would befall us and as typical humans and Ghanaians as we are, we only react when disaster strikes and that is why as Christmas is approaching, my outfit thought it necessary to hold this workshop be aware of the danger that swims in the midst of having fun at events,” he stated.
