Music artist duo U2Jay, comprised of Joseph Wise (Uwonda) Laryea and Jewel (Jewnart) Nartey, grabbed the Hiplife Song of the Year trophy with Chorkor Beyonce at the first Emerging Music Awards.

In receiving the award, U2Jay noted: “they were glad an awards scheme that focuses on emerging talents was up and running”.

“There are countless amount of brilliant young talents in the system but they don’t get heard. It takes a lot of resources to hit the limelight which these emerging acts don’t have,” U2Jay emphasised.

“Our prayer is that the EMA survives and gets better each year for all the budding, wonderful acts to be heard.”

U2Jay was nominated in three categories – Most Popular Song of the Year, Hiplife Artiste of the Year and Hiplife Song of the Year- at the just-ended EMA.

U2Jay are based in Nungua and have shared stages with iconic names as Samini, Koo Ntakra, Nii Funny, and Shatta Wale.

Their previous songs include Eye Normal, Odo Na Eye, Police, Na True, See My Baby, No Be China, Nungua Mango, By The Way, and Blue Balls.
