Thabo M Ndlovu is making his mark within the music industry step by step and after an overwhelming response to his latest single ‘Ngifuna Wena’, he felt he needed to give his fans a visual extension of his musical journey.
When it comes to visual storytelling no one is dominating our screens more than Slowman Films: his cinematic music video directing style seamlessly blends with the music in a manner that encapsulates the viewer, and it leaves them glued to the screen.
We first meet Thabo playfully washing laundry with the love of his life. His happiness is then snatched away in the form of a luxury car. ‘Ngifuna Wena’ is a hopeful love story about pursuing your romantic dream in the midst of a dire economy, and the ability to achieve both through diligent perseverance.
This music video is synonymous with Thabo’s own journey in winning the Idols 2023 competition: Many impediments were there till eventually he outwitted and outlasted all adversaries to be the victor!
“There’s a Zulu saying that goes ‘ubuhle bendoda zinkomo zayo’. Which means a man’s beauty Is seen through his “hard work”, but what I find interesting in this video is how it does not only portray a man’s struggle and dedication to better himself but also how he remained true to who he is despite limitations/circumstances and in the end finds true love through hard work. I found myself relating to the character in the sense that I strive to better my life on a day-to-day basis yet remain true to who I am which is a man who is God-fearing, humble, never looks down on people, and always respects every individual’s hustle.”

Here’s what Thabo had to say about the visuals for ‘Ngifuna Wena’; “There’s a Zulu saying that goes ‘ubuhle bendoda zinkomo zayo’.
In this world full of negative ideologies about what constitutes love and dedication, it’s a breath of fresh air to see victory being depicted in such an altruistic manner: Thabo came, he saw and he conquered!
