Kwelanga 2.0 cleans up at Metro FM Awards, Makhadzi crowned Artist of the Year

Warner Music Africa triumphed at the 2025 Metro FM Music Awards, highlighting Amapiano's dominance and celebrating key artists' achievements.

Warner Music Africa made an undeniable impact at the 2025 Metro FM Music Awards, celebrating a landmark year with a wave of wins across major categories. Held at Mbombela Stadium in Nelspruit under the theme “Crowning Greatness,” the prestigious ceremony honoured the artists shaping the future of South African music with Warner Music Africa and Africori standing proudly at the centre of the spotlight.

The Amapiano-defining hit Kwelanga 2.0 by Bassie, featuring M-Touch, Ranger, Amaza ft. Tman Xpress and LeeMckrazy swept the night with wins for Best Music Video, Best Amapiano Song, and Best Collaboration, cementing Warner Music Africa’s leadership in the genre and its cultural relevance.

“Kwelanga 2.0 was born from unity and the magic of collaboration. To see it resonate this deeply means the world to me. I share this win with every artist on the track, this is for the culture, for Amapiano, and for everyone who believed in us,” said Bassie while accepting the award.

Further amplifying the night’s success, Limpopo’s dance queen Makhadzi was crowned Artist of the Year, a testament to her unmatched impact, dedication, and fan support.

“Winning Artist of the Year is more than an award, it’s recognition of the journey, the sweat, the sleepless nights, and most importantly, the love of the fans. Limpopo to the world! I’m so grateful to my team and Africori for helping me dream louder,” she shared.
