The CEO of Charway Management, Charway Ismaila Sumaila is calling for investments and the establishment of more event centres to ease the frustrations of event organisers in pricing tickets.

He pointed out that many event organisers are mostly torn between cancelling events and increasing the prices of tickets to defray huge bills due to the unavailability of suitable centres to host their shows.

“The cost of organizing an event is really huge in Ghana and disappointingly, we don’t even have appropriate event centres to host huge numbers. Because of this, event organisers are forced to increase the prices of tickets.

“Can you imagine investing so much into production running into millions of cedis and yet not even secure a venue that can take up to 10,000 patrons?

“As I’m talking to you now, the National Theatre takes just about 1,500 patrons. This is really a burden on event organisers because we are making huge losses,” he said.

As an event and artiste management company, Charway Management has recently organised a workshop to sensitise event organisers on the need to put security and safety measures in place.

He mentioned that Ghana is not alien to countries such as Germany and Cambodia which have recorded huge deaths through disasters events.
