All three nights of Red Bull Symphonic: Amapiano – The Next Chapter were completely sold out, marking a genre-defining moment in the evolution of South African music. Held at The Teatro, Montecasino on June 6th, 7th, and 8th, the groundbreaking production reimagined the soulful depth of Amapiano through sweeping orchestral arrangements, bridging the sound of the streets with the majesty of a live symphony.

At the centre of this historic collaboration was Kelvin Momo, the celebrated producer and pioneer of β€œPrivate School Amapiano,” who teamed up with esteemed conductor Adam Howard and the Egoli Symphonic Orchestra to deliver a breathtaking performance. The result? A sonic journey that charted the genre’s roots, its rise, and its limitless future, earning standing ovations each night.

Kelvin Momo’s sets featured a stellar line-up of vocal collaborators, including Babalwa M, Nia Pearl, Mashudu, Makhanj, Baby S.O.N and Sino Msolo, who brought emotional resonance and flair to the stage. One of the most talked-about moments came on the final night, when Kelvin helped Babalwa M onto the stage, sang with her intimately, and ended the performance with a heartfelt kiss, sealing a night of musical and personal chemistry.

Audiences were treated to a multidimensional experience, complete with a live choir, world-class musicians, and Kelvin himself dancing, vibing, and connecting deeply with fans. On opening night, he even grew emotional during the performance of β€œSong Cry,” underscoring the vulnerability and depth he brings to his craft.

This milestone event follows on the heels of Kelvin Momo’s record-breaking album β€œThato Ya Modimo”, which debuted last week with over 20 million streams in its first week, a national achievement that reinforces his status as one of the most important artists in the Amapiano movement.

Additionally, this success has contributed to a major industry win for Africori, which this week boasts a 44% local market share on the Bmat chart in South Africa, with Kelvin Momo leading the charge, supported by his account manager Yoann Chapalain. As a collective, Africori now represents 58% of the Top 50 tracks in the country, a powerful testament to the momentum behind Momo’s music.

Red Bull Symphonic: Amapiano, The Next Chapter was more than a concert, it was a cultural moment. A masterclass in musical innovation, collaboration, and emotional storytelling.
