London meets Accra: Alistair and Mega EJ redefine Afro fusion with ground-breaking single ‘Aje’

Emmanuel Ghansah

Following recent news on the Ghanaian influence in Afrobeats, Alistair – a producer artist/songwriter based out of London evolved Afro fusion to a whole new dimension by working with culture-based content writer Mega EJ.

In conversations with him, he mentioned working with a German rapper, Miami Yacine (Top 5 in 3 countries), releasing a bunch of solo projects and singles (26 million streams in total), gaining support from the BBC and working in many different studios in London, Berlin and LA.

Before he moved to London, he lived in 4 different countries on 3 different continents. This really influenced him the most anytime he created music. After self-releasing in 2017, he signed a publishing deal with BMG and collaborated with a variety of talent from across the globe.

Alistair has also gained a huge number of fans and audience due to his recent engagements on Twitch, collaborating with Timbaland (a legend in the beat production industry).

Mega EJ is a budding Ghanaian musician hailing from the Volta Region of Ghana, West Africa. Melding a knack for smooth RnB sounds and his native tongue Ewe. Mega EJ crafts songs that get us right in the emo-Afrobeats feels. Mega EJ believes everyone has problems and that no one is perfect.

“Although the inspiration for ‘Aje’ was picked up from my problems and stories, I always preach good vibes and positive energy”. The Afro fusion track is enough to make anyone understand the emotions involved in composing such melodies and instrumentals.

Both acts shared their experiences and skill sets to make this single a complete and deep description of how amazing Afro fusion sounds with acts from two different parts of the world. Listen/stream ‘Aje’ here: https://ditto.fm/aje-mega-ej-alistair
