Ghana Music Awards Europe Announces Full List of Diaspora Nominees

The much-anticipated Ghana Music Awards Europe has unveiled the full list of nominees for its diaspora categories.

The awards, which comes off on September 7th, celebrates the exceptional talent of Ghanaian artists in Europe, feature a variety of categories ranging from Highlife and Reggae/Dancehall to Gospel and Afrobeats.

In the Diaspora Highlife Song category, nominees include Bernard Ampofo with “Kakape,” Koffi Nyat’s “Araba,” and Lady Sledge’s “Christo Konkonsa.” Other contenders are Maame featuring Ogidi Brown with “Way3 Twan,” KG with “Kontrofi Akokora,” and Paparoo with “Fa wo wor mi.”

The Best Collaboration category features collaborations such as Eva Diva featuring Abronomaa Ortega’s “What is my name,” Lady Sledge featuring KG with “Jealous,” and Benji featuring Kofi Kinata with “Apology.” Additional nominees include Flodoo featuring Nii Funny with “Wonders,” Tina Tee featuring Noble Nketia with “My Testimony,” and Koffi Nyat featuring Sherifa Gunu with “Tamale.”

For the Diaspora Highlife Artist of the Year, the competition is stiff with nominees like Koffi Nyat, Lady Sledge, Paparoo, KG, Kobbinick, Bernard Ampofo, Ade3fe Kwakye, and Mr Muzic Mensah all vying for the title.

The Diaspora Reggae/Dancehall Artist of the Year sees nominations for Ras Amankwatia, Anda D Ryda, Danny Lampo, Neellzy, Star Vicy, and Tonton Sammy.

In the coveted Diaspora Artist of the Year category, nominees include Fadu, Samuel Say, Qwamenewking, Ras Amankwatia, Star Vicy, KK Mensah, and Lady Joyce.

The Diaspora Best Male Vocalist category showcases talents like Koffi Nyat, Paparoo, Nana Amankwatia, Samuel Sey, Bernard Ampofo, KK Mensah, and Deeptalks Music.

Nominees for the Diaspora Hiplife/Hip-Pop Artist of the Year include Afrikan Superstar, Dayvybz, Konings Obrempong, Young Rob, Sameone Ghana, Star Vicy, Z16 Awelaga Music, Abronomaa Ortega, Deeptalks Music, Kobbinck, and Bakilla.

In the Diaspora Afrobeat Artist of the Year category, Charles Kalah’s “Hold It,” Danny Lampo’s “Puutu,” Goon Maan’s “Champion Lover,” Kwabena Awutey’s “On Me,” and LadyP’s “Slow Motion” are among the standout nominees.

The Diaspora Gospel Artist of the Year nominees include Abyluv Music, Eunice Serwah Bonsu, KK Mensah with “Aseda,” Live Laura Sika with “Ohene,” Royal Mama, Samuel Sey, Sinners Friend, and Akubless.

For the Diaspora Gospel Song of the Year, the competition features Derrick Osei with “Baba Oluwa,” Florence Nightingale, Francisca Amoah with “My Praise,” Grace with “Mpaebɔ Yɛ Nyamɛ aduru,” KK Mensah with “N’ADOM,” Michael K. Okyere with “Ye Yi Way3 A 3nsa Da,” Min.Yvonne with “Give Me Rest,” Nana Amankwah Tiah with “The Cross,” Nhyira Hemaa with “Too Much,” Tinatee with “Overdose,” and Zion Daughter with “Dangme slowhighlife.”

The Diaspora Songwriter of the Year category includes Champman, Derrick Osei, Nana Amankwah Tiah, Neellzy Music, and Ras Amankwatia.

The Digital Content Creator of the Year (Diaspora & Local) features Carlos Finito, Kwadwo Sheldon, Kwame Gee, Magraheb, and Zion-Felix.

For the Diaspora New Artist of the Year, nominees include Bra Emma, Kaakyire, Kwantere, Lady Sledge, Lady Vicky, Queen LEE, Rich2gether, Tee Kae, Yaw Scott, and Z16 Awelaga Music.

The Diaspora Producer and Mastering Engineer of the Year nominees are ItzCJ Madeit, Beatz Vampire, GigzBeatz, TubhaniMuzik, Neellzy, Dr Ray Beat, Two Bars, Dat Beat God, and Ephraim Beatz.

Finally, the Diaspora DJ of the Year nominees include DJ Arana, DJ Napok, DJ MC Ferguson, DJ Kobbi, DJ The PM, and DJ Young.

The Ghana Music Awards Europe promises to be a grand celebration of Ghanaian music talent in the diaspora, highlighting the diversity and richness of the Ghanaian music scene.
