It is rare to find Disc Jockeying, DJ-ing, as a business running through a family line but for DJ Risky, the popular idea that he became a DJ because of his brother is a big “No No”.
DJ Risky, personally known as Elton Thomas Ntim, has come out strongly to refute public assertions that he is living in the shadows of his elder brother, DJ Carlos, who has echoed his name in the Ghanaian entertainment industry and on the African continent.
” I go for shows or clubs and people who know my brother expects me to play and perform just like him, whereas I have my own style. I know it is good to have a famous relative but my creativity should not allude to his”.
DJ Risky has been playing shows for some of the greatest Hiplife upstarts in Ghana as well as in clubs in both Accra and Kumasi.
He admitted though that his big brother, DJ Carlos inspired him to go into DJ-ing but was quick to add that his focus, goals, style, and ambitions are totally different from his brother’s and the world needs to perceive him for his unique talents.
DJ Risky’s brother, DJ Carlos was born Carlos Boahen Ntim. He was the official DJ for the legendary Hiplife trio, Vision In Progress, VIP, and was also the resident DJ at Reggie Rockstone’s Office nightclub. DJ Carlos, is also well known for his performance as the official DJ for the launch of Big Brother Africa in South Africa in 2010. He has also played at various events in Nigeria and other African countries.
DJ Risky, who is also called Elton Thomas Ntim, said the fact that they bear the same surname does not mean one is living in the shadows of the other.
Aside from being a full-time DJ, Elton Thomas Ntim is also a businessman with a wife and kids. He says he intends to make waves in the country and beyond just like his predecessors DJ Black, DJ Virusky among others.
