Twin brothers, Mcmaine Boadu and Mckenzie Boadu have appealed to the government and organizations to give priority to the creative arts industry by channeling more resources into its development.
The brother who members of the Twins Association in Ghana, mentioned that if the creative industry in Ghana will gain recognition on the international scene then the government ought to put in place policies that would protect the works of its stakeholders to enable them to generate revenue from their works.
The twin brother who will soon launch a number of music projects which include a reality show and musical concerts to raise funds for the needy appealed to the government to build event centers in all the district and regional capitals as part of efforts to promote music, culture, and tourism.
They noted that though the industry was doing everything possible to ensure that it got the needed support and in order to sell Ghana to the world, the government should position Ghana’s creative industry to attract investors on the global market.
They mentioned that the industry was contributing significantly to the Gross Domestic Product and had the highest potential of job and wealth creation among Ghanaians, particularly the non-formal sector.
According to them, the culture and creative industry was the fastest-growing sector of the world economy and entreated Government to channel more resources to develop the sector.
They, however, expressed regret at the low publicity given to the intrinsic values and locations of tourist attractions in the country, cited for instance that in the East, Western and Central Regions had tourist sites which were not known by the public.
They, therefore, urged the government to collaborate with the stakeholders in the creative sector to identify the potential of the industry through an impact assessment study. The study, he said could be used to support the preparation of a medium-term strategic framework that would guide the development of the industry.
