FRA & Kyekyeku make Ghana proud in Spain
FRA, Kyekyeku and Band thrill fans at Vis a Vis festival in Spain.
Ghana’s High Commissioner to Spain, H.E. Elizabeth Adjei has commended two bands, Kyekyeku & the Ghanalogue Highlife band and FRA band for their exceptional performance at the Vis a Vis festival in Spain.
The bands have been touring festivals across Spain after winning a competition organised in Accra by Casa Africa & Creative Arts Council, where they were selected out of 64 bands who came in to compete to represent Ghana in Spain.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with Doreen Avio at the Embassy in Madrid, Spain, Mrs. Elizabeth Adjei commended the bands and the Creative Arts Council for supporting the initiative.
“I think they performed very well , they made Ghana proud , Casa Africa have written to the mission, they are proud of the entire Vis a Vis program held in Ghana. It makes us also realise that cultural diplomacy works. It is an important tool and we Ghanaians should use it to our advantage”. She said.

She stated that she has received good feedback from the Spanish crew that came to Ghana and they are proud of the entire Vis a Vis program and charged the youth to put their best part to any similar opportunities that may arise in the future it because if these two bands did it, then they can equally do it too.

“These are random groups which were selected to perform and they perfected their art and now they are the stars of the game “. She said.
She revealed that she had met the Creative Arts Council and made them aware the Vis a Vis festival is not the end because the Embassy plans to have an Afro Musical tour of Spain in Barcelona, adding they are working to be able to implement this by summer of 2020.
She noted it’s an opportunity to build on and give access to talents in Ghana to go international and also be recognised.
She also revealed Kyekyeku and Ghanalogue highlife band and FRA bands will be supported by Spanish producers to be able to produce music and also market them therefore the groups will be here in Spain for a while after the festivals.
