‘Gologolo’ hitmaker, Owusu Danso Explains Decision to Join Alan Kyerematen’s Movement for Change as Running Mate – Full Details HERE!

Former musician and lawyer highlights the need for inclusive governance and a new national vision!

Elijah Kwame Owusu Danso, a Ghanaian lawyer and former musician, has revealed the reasons behind his decision to accept the role of running mate for Alan Kyerematen, the Presidential Candidate for the Movement for Change.

In an interview on Joy FM’s Personality Profile with Lexis Bill, Owusu Danso shared that his alignment with Kyerematen’s vision for youth empowerment and national unity was the driving force behind his decision.

Owusu Danso, who previously served as a corporate strategist and pan-African broadcaster, expressed his strong belief in the need for youth participation in governance.

According to him, Kyerematen’s emphasis on elevating young people’s voices in the political arena inspired him to join the movement, which he sees as a crucial step toward a new Ghana.

“The reason I accepted this [appointment] is because of the conversation about Ghana,” he stated. “Ultimately, it is about building a united Ghana that provides opportunities for all, including those from places like Akyem-Asafo, Bole Banboi, and Asante-Mampong. It’s about a Ghana that doesn’t discriminate.”

Kwame noted that many young Ghanaians had placed their hopes on President Nana Akufo-Addo during the 2016 elections, believing in the promise of significant change.

However, he pointed out that despite their crucial role in determining election outcomes, young people continue to lack representation in key decision-making processes.

“Young people are key stakeholders in determining who leads us, yet we don’t have a seat at the table. We’ve created a table and given leadership to political elites, but when it comes to decisions that directly affect us, we’re left out,” Owusu Danso emphasized. “That narrative has to change.”

One of the key aspects of Alan Kyerematen’s campaign that resonated with Owusu Danso is his vision of a government of national unity.

Kyerematen has proposed a governance structure that is inclusive of all Ghanaians, irrespective of their political, ethnic, or religious backgrounds—a vision that Owusu Danso sees as pivotal to reshaping Ghana’s future.

“Alan Kyerematen’s governance doesn’t factor in political leanings, ideologies, religion, or ethnicity,” he explained. “Those considerations are irrelevant today. What matters is creating a Ghana where everyone has a chance to thrive.”

Despite some public ridicule upon the announcement of his appointment—largely stemming from his past as a musician in the hiplife group Echo, known for hits like ‘Gologolo’—Owusu Danso views the attention as a positive.

The spotlight, he believes, has only amplified his platform and allowed more Ghanaians to engage with his message.

A Pan-Africanist with Diverse Credentials

Kwame Owusu Danso’s journey to the political stage has been diverse. He is a founding member of the Forum for Accountable Governance (FAG), a civil society group focused on anti-corruption, electoral reform, and environmental governance.

Through his work as host of the Good Morning Africa talk show on Pan-African Television, he has consistently championed Pan-Africanism and advocated for a governance model that prioritizes African interests on the global stage.

As a private legal practitioner and corporate strategist, Owusu Danso’s experience spans multiple industries, including his time with Airtel Ghana and the Trasacco Group. He has also been a vocal political activist, often discussing governance reforms and the importance of youth engagement in leadership.

Despite his many roles, Owusu Danso describes himself simply as a youth rights advocate.

Now, with his partnership with Alan Kyerematen, he hopes to bring those same ideals to the forefront of Ghanaian politics, aiming for a future where the voices of young people are heard and their concerns addressed directly at the decision-making table.
