Ghanaian dancehall artiste, J Derobie, has said had it not been for the sports betting industry in Ghana, many young boys and men would have gone into armed robbery to survive.
The Nungua-based artiste, who became popular when he auditioned for Mr Eaziβs emPawa 100 project, was speaking on the Class Drive (CD) on Class91.3FM on Friday, 27 September 2019.
The βPovertyβ himaker, who is the face of one of the sports betting companies in Ghana, told show host Prince Benjamin (Chauffeur PB) that: βBetting is good, betting is good. It has helped most of the youth, it has pushed some of them from stealing and all thatβ,
J. Derobie added: βYou know, if it werenβt for betting, some [young] people would be on the streets stealing and robbingβ.
βSo, the betting is good; thatβs what I thinkβ, he stressed.
Born Derrick Obobbie, the dancehall artiste, J. Derobie, was on the CD to promote his new song titled βOdo Braβ.
