Shatta Wale beats Davido, Morgan Heritage etc. to bag 2 awards at IRAWMA

Ghana’s Dancehall King, Shatta Wale, has won two awards at the just ended International Reggae And World Music Awards (IRAWMA) 2019 held in Jamaica.

Shatta Wale won the ‘Best Afrobeat Entertainer’ category, beating contenders including Stonebwoy, Akothee (Kenya), Davido (Nigeria) Diamond Platinumz (Tanzania) and Flavor (Nigeria).

He again won the ‘Best Music video’ with his Undefeated ‘Gringo’ tune also defeating Wiz Khalifa, Morgan Heritage, Sean Paul, Samini,Damian Marley etc.The awards ceremony was held on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Pegasus Hotel, 82 Knutsford Blvd, Kingston, Jamaica, West Indies.

Spice won ‘Female Dancehall artiste’ of the year whereas, Popcaan picked the Overall Entertainer of the Year award, Notnice Records won for themselves the ‘RECORDING PRODUCER of the year’ as well as a host of other winners.

Established in 1982, the purpose of IRAWMA is to acknowledge and honor the accomplishments and contributions of reggae and world music artists, including: songwriters, performers, promoters and musicians.

The impetus behind the IRAWMA is its commitment to promoting greater participation and acceptance of Reggae, Caribbean and World Music, Internationally.
