Having amassed over 5 years of experience by working with the likes of Paa Kow and Shikome as his mentors, Issaka Sowah is gradually becoming one of the young drummers to be known in Ghana.
Born and raised in Accra – Ghana, Issaka lived most of his early years with his mum, sister, and uncles at Korle-Gonno/Mamprobi.
During his Junior High school days, his teacher discovered Issaka’s interest in drumming, dancing, and his ability to play drums dexterously.
Issaka Sowah Okine associated himself with Afro-fusion, Afro-funk, and Afro-beat genres early.
Issaka who specializes in conga drumming, has had sessions with Lasmid, Kaywa’s live recording, Kyrmi, Kay Wusu, Ohemaa Mercy, Kwesi Oppong, and many more.
The drum specialist is still looking forward to collaborating with Shatta Wale, Samini, Kuami Eugene, Stonebwoy, Manifest, and a host of other talented acts because of his love for their sounds.
He is currently part of the GH Rock Band which is made up of Strongman, Lasmid, Vanilla, DJ Quaye, Kaywa, Bash, Gido, Hussein, TT, Maa, Johnny, DJ Loft, Issaka, and Krymi.
Issaka is known for his own unique blend of sounds, he expresses his thoughts, ideas, and inspirations through drumming. Just by the sound of his drum, you’ll know Issaka is on fire. Away from that, he uses sounds to connect people from different walks of life under one umbrella.
